Care Instructions for Dovetail Furniture Products
Dovetail Furniture specializes in furniture that combines classic designs and traditional construction techniques. This combination results in furniture that will last and continue to look good for years to come.
Following these simple rules will help you avoid unnecessary damage to your furniture.
1) Always use coasters and placemats particularly on dining tables and coffee tables.
2) Wipe up spills immediately.
3) Do not use inexpensive supermarket products.
Indian Collections
Our Indian collections have a stain and wax finish, with the exception of our dining tables, and do not require much more than the occasional buff with a soft cotton cloth. If you have a piece that you wish to add an extra luster to or a surface to which you wish to add extra protection we recommend a product called Briwax or Fiddes wax.
Briwax or Fiddes wax can be purchased through any good hardware store and comes in several colors. We generally use light brown, but should you wish to darken your product they also offer dark brown. Briwax should be applied sparingly with a cotton cloth, allowed to dry and then buffed with a clean cloth.
Dining tables and coffee tables tend to get the most abuse and as already mentioned the fi rst rule is to use coasters and placemats. Should you get a ring from a cup or glass on a coffee table, we suggest that you apply Briwax or Fiddes wax to the damaged area, allow it to dry and buff out and repeat until the ring has gone. Dining tables do have a seal on them and are waxed to add additional luster, thus you may fi nd a small amount of color comes off the table if they are wiped with a cloth, though this is quite normal. You can use a good quality aerosol wax on our dining tables.
Remember, the product is rustic and thus minor blemishes can add to the look and character of the piece. The most important thing is to relax and enjoy your Dovetail Furniture.
Bacino, Mandarin and Java Leather Collections
As with the Indian collections, our Bacino collection requires very little maintenance. Occasional dusting will keep the pieces looking good. You can use a good quality aerosol wax as necessary which will add luster and protect the finish.
