Care Instructions for Dovetail Furniture Products
Dovetail Furniture specializes in furniture that combines classic designs and traditional construction techniques. This combination results in furniture that will last and continue to look good for years to come. Our pieces are rustic and may have minor blemishes which add to the look and character of the piece.
Our Finishes
We have invested a great deal to improve the finish on our furniture and now most of our Indian and Chinese production pieces have a polyurethane seal. The exceptions to this are listed below.
General Care (Please see exceptions below)
Our furniture’s look will be maintained if the following simple rules are followed.
Always use coasters and placemats particularly on dining tables and coffee tables, but also including any surface where a glass could be placed.
Wipe up spills immediately.
Use a good quality aerosol polish as required which should be buffed lightly with a soft cotton cloth.
XG and DOV100, DOV300, DOV500, DOV600 and DOV700 Codes
These items have a wax finish. We would recommend nothing more than an occasional wipe down with a cotton cloth. It is essential to use coasters and placemats on these pieces.
DOV200 Codes
Crafted from reclaimed elm, these items have a simple sanded finish with no wax or sealer. It is essential to use coasters and placemats on these pieces. Wiping with a soft cotton cloth will maintain the pieces natural look.
SE4000 Codes
This collection is crafted from “select” Sheesham and is left unfinished to preserve it’s natural beauty. We would recommend nothing more than an occasional wipe down with a cotton cloth. It is essential to use coasters and placemats on these pieces.
Indian One of a Kind
Our one of a kind items usually have a stain and wax finish. These pieces do not require much more than an occasional buff with a soft cotton cloth. If you have a piece that you wish to add extra luster to, or a surface to which you wish to add extra protection we recommend using Fiddes wax.
Chinese One of a Kind
Our Chinese one of a kind pieces are usually either painted or have a lacquer finish. Thus an aerosol furniture polish can be used.
